ProjectSmart – Requirements Engineering Course

ProjectSmart is able to offer its clients services that either provides hands
on training “in-situ” with staff or a classroom based 1-day course as follows:

1 Day Course Outline

The provision of a 1-day course in requirements engineering and supply of
course materials for up to eight staff.

Course Pre-requisites

It is assumed that those staff being trained will have done some systems
analysis or as a minimum will have an awareness of the software development
life cycle.

Course Outputs

As a result of the course participants will be able to describe, analyse and
validate requirements to at least the standard required by the comparative ISEB course. In addition they will have access to materials, which will enable them
to refer to best practice.

What will be provided

Training to the syllabus below, exercises and real life case studies. A
requirements template, a set of references to the “standards” together with one copy of the definitive guide to Requirements Engineering and a set of best practice examples.

What won't be provided

A requirements database or catalogue.

The course will be based upon the Masters Degree, more specifically from the
degree dissertation entitled “Requirements engineering to avoid software
failure” and the subsequent results gained from implementing these processes at the University of Birmingham .
